We use a hairbrush to tame our manes multiple times a day. That means we are most likely using it at the end of the day when our hair is full of dirt, oil, and grime and then using that same brush to detangle our freshly washed hair the next morning. You wouldn’t want to dry your freshly washed kitchen floor with a dirty, grimy towel, so why would you want to brush your clean hair with a dirty brush? It’s very easy to clean your hairbrush and it can be done in just a few minutes each night! Here’s how:
Step 1: Remove all hair from the brush. The best way to do this without damaging bristles is to take a toothpick or sharpened tip of a pencil and run it underneath the hair and bring it upwards. Then, take scissors and cut the hair down the middle of the brush. Lastly, peel away the hair and discard.
Step 2: Fill sink with warm water and add a tablespoon of cleansing shampoo, such as our Silky Cleanse. We use shampoo on our hair to cut through the dirt and oil and it will do the same to your hairbrush. Wash the brush and bristles thoroughly. Rinse well.
Step 3: Let brush air dry overnight with the bristles facing downward. If you find yourself in a hurry, you can also blow dry the brush.
